Perfect timing! I was wanting a clear, up-to-date graph of this to take to my next doc appointment, to try & the kool-aid he drank. He gave me an idiotic powerpoint printout from Jane Ballentyne, of all people, & said he saw her talk & he “saw the light.” Interesting that even the newest converts know on some level that it’s truly a religion, even if they don’t consciously realize it. I know that facts won’t sway him in the slightest, but I wanted to throw an organized presentation at him before I tell him where to go.

And, as ever, outstanding! (still working for that keyboard shortcut).

It’s a shame you have to pay (copay?) for another appointment with this “convert” when he’s already lost to PROPaganda. I’d be curious exactly what “light” he saw that he felt was different from what he believed before.

Me too. I actually didn’t realize who ballentyne was when he gave me the printout….probably a good thing as it turned out, as I don’t know what I’d have done if I’d realized at the time that she was the female version of Kolodny & one of the co-founders of PROP.

      Perfect:

” ….but I wanted to throw an organized presentation at him before I tell him where to go.”

It is startlingly surprising (but based in simple fact now) that too many GP’s are not deserving of the responsibility (script-writing -or not, diagnosing) heaped upon them. They are not ‘critical’ thinkers -if they even think wisely at all.

I’m not sure where/how these folk get their Phd’s (medicine), but it’s obvious the profession is NOT attracting the smartest folk/academics. Likely cuz they realize the sheer corruption/bull-shit involved with governing bodies, pharmaceuticals, government pressure -the implications, and (brutal political) legalities of it all.
For who would not be very satisfied/thrilled knowing they could make life better, more manageable, heck even maybe enjoyable than a physician with the wherewithal (power/ autonomy) to make smart, critical decisions for those in such desperate need.

I’m not sure when it happened, but those days of recruiting the ‘best’ (brightest -if that ever was achieved?) is over. Now/recently, medical schools a re looking for/to those that immaturely, unwisely will “tow-the-party-(when influenced/directed by corrupt policy) line”. Subservient to the “profession”, not to the patient/patients health-well being, is the most damning of consequences.

Fear not, the days of one man/woman making critical (life-impacting) decisions will soon be, mercifully, behind us -but never forgotten as history shall painfully recall.

(P.S. My apologies to the few remaining genuinely passionate, professional, dedicated physician’s who plow through the BS -delivering the finest care possible to the most grateful, of patients)

Thanks. There is a problem, however, and that is that I know if I share this, I will be asked what the sources for the numbers are. Do you have a list of reference material? Thanks!

      Glad you asked:

@StefanKertesz: 1/Falling US Opioid Prescribing (down 19% per capita vs 2006 levels) and Opioid Overdose deaths. I show all opioid-related overdose deaths (including heroin/fentanyl) –
